Suzuki's New Hot Rod - the Cobra M109R

The brains at American Suzuki Motor Corporation and Cobra Engineering unveiled a dramatic custom Boulevard M109R power cruiser recently in New York.

m109rWith help from renowned builder Denny Berg, Cobra's Special Projects Division transformed the flagship Boulevard M109R – Suzuki's most powerful cruiser.

It's not your typical cruiser. In fact, it's more like the love child of a burly cruiser and a rice rocket. But not just any rocket - Suzuki’s championship-winning GSX-R. The M109R sports a GSX-R blue and white paint scheme, GSX-R1000 foot pegs, and sportbike-style tail section, seat and handlebar risers.

The custom M109R also features a leaner frame, showing off the 1783cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin mill with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. Suzuki says the stock engine has been designed to produce “massive waves of torque” from just off idle all the way to redline.

Sounds good to us.

Suzuki says the design brings together the best elements of racing and cruising - agile handling and a comfortable riding position.

Don't look for this sled at your neighborhood Suzuki dealer anytime soon, though. American Suzuki spokesman Andrew Nicolai tells Nuts About Bikes that it's a showbike, for now. But if you want to trick out your own Boulevard, some of the parts used on the M109R Custom are available through Cobra.

Don't fret. You could win the next best thing, Cobra's Custom M109R, also designed by Denny Berg. Entries are due by March 2007 so check it out.
