Socks that Rock

There's no shortage of high-tech winter socks for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you seek skiers' socks or socks labeled for motorcyclists, you can expect to pay at anywhere from $15 to $20 or more for the pair.

Dude. Save yourself some money - use it to buy gas. These are the socks you need: Carhartt's High Performance Boot Socks. They'll set you back all of $11US.

  • Cheep!! $11US
  • Available everywhere - mine came from the neighborhood hardware store
  • Supersoft, superwarm blend: 55% hi-bulk acrylic, 27% stretch nylon, 17% worsted wool, and 1% Lycra spandex
  • They stay up!
  • Machine washable
  • Available in three colors and two sizes

These are by far the most comfortable socks I ever biked in. The wool in the blend keeps your dogs cozy and the other fibers make them soft and non-irritating. Unlike other more high-tech winter socks, they don't make your feet sweat and if the weather warms up, you don't end up wishing you'd packed something lighter.

You could wear these in summer and be just as comfortable, we think.
